Submission Information

In this workshop we aim to encourage creative consideration of the trade-offs in design and cross-disciplinary expertise needed for designing CUIs for education. Some of the topics we may cover include, but are not limited to:

• The costs and benefits of CUI design decisions in educational contexts.
• Pros and cons of integrating CUIs into classroom activities.
• Technical challenges and horizons in CUI and EduTech design.
• Ethical issues and solutions surrounding the use of AI in CUIs and EduTech.
• Challenges and opportunities whe children interact with CUIs.
• Legal frameworks to support ethical CUI research in classrooms.
• Doors of accessibility opened or closed by CUIs.
• Multidisciplinary requirements for successful integration of CUIs into educational contexts.

Imagining the Future of Educational CUIs

We invite researchers from academia and industry practitioners to express their interest in our workshop by submitting a blue-sky design idea for a "perfect CUI" for an educational context. Don't worry too much about the implementation details yet, but tell us what educational context your CUI would exist in and what function it would serve.

Participant Biographies

We also invite the submission of one-paragraph biographies to get to know our participants and arrange groups to have diverse sets of interests.

Submissions of imageined futures and one paragraph biographies should be made by email to Justin Edwards any time before the beginning of the conference.

We plan to break participants into small groups with diverse research interest across topics of CUIs and EduTech to help you grow your professional network and make new connections for future collaborations.
